The Confederation of Indian Industry, also known as CII, organized its annual National Kaizen Circle Competition on the 11th and 12th June 2019 at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, India. 119 participants from across the country from various industries like Construction, Automobile, Footwear, Apparel, Safety Gears, Farming, etc. participated in the National Competition and presented some of the Kaizens implemented in their respective facilities. The Kaizens were categorized into 3 segments – Reactive, Proactive and Innovative.
Along with others, Unitech Enterprises also presented a Kaizen implemented in their factory in the Innovative Category. The Kaizen competed with those from the likes of Honda Cars India Ltd., Bata India Ltd., Maruti Udyog Ltd., Ashok Leyland among many others. Unitech Enterprises’ Kaizen was based on improved productivity in one of its production areas by manifold. This Kaizen won the Second Prize in the competition.
This Kaizen was the brainchild of the staff of Unitech Enterprises, who reduced the number of and dependency on Skilled Labor in the process giving the organization a huge leverage in monetary and non-monetary terms. The organization, along with its suppliers, took a working of more than 6 months to get this Kaizen up and running on the production floor. This milestone achievement has encouraged the organization to open its gates to more innovative suggestions from its suppliers, clients and the staff.
